Albania Earthquake 2019
In response to this devastating event, Gjirafa teamed up with the American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo to mobilize aid for those affected.
Within a short matter of time ,we were able to deliver supplies worth 40,000 EUR. We also collected and delivered funds amounting to 12,150 EUR.
COVID 19
The COVID-19 pandemic and responses to it have caused long term ramification on health, society, and economic activity across the word.
Even though gjirafamall.com was not originally designed or historically used for the sale of groceries, we recognized the unprecedented nature of the situation and decided to take urgent action.
Supporting Families During the Pandemic
At Gjirafa, we are committed to playing a constructive role in building resilient communities. After the COVID-19 outbreak, Gjirafa joined the #NjeriPerTjetrin initiative and decided to "adopt" 5 families.
We supported them with donations of groceries and other essential supplies throughout the lockdown and after, until they were able to afford to become self-sustainable once again.
Education
At Gjirafa, we believe that education is the key to prosperity. We are committed to supporting education in a range of ways, with a special emphasis on technology and innovation.
Learning from Distance Support
After the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, schools were faced with the prospect of extended closures. in order to avoid disruption to the education system, remote learning solutions had to be implemented quickly.
Gjirafa Mobilized its streaming resources to provide students, parents, and teachers with technology that helped facilitate successful learning environments during this unprecedented time. We utilized the infrastructure of Gjirafa Video to make video instructions of teacher-led sessions available online.
The learning materials cover a variety of topics that encompass, the K-12 curriculum and are currently available on our platform, free of charge. Gjirafa remains committed to supporting students in shifting to virtual and hybrid classrooms.
